The Jenschke family wanted to add a winery to their property, but they knew that the expertise required to grow premium-quality fruit took years to accrue. They found themselves at a decision point: should they invest in a vineyard of their own, or would it be better to let a Texas grape grower and winery owner open a business on their property?
After building a relationship with Steve Newsom, they knew that they were ready to let him open a winery in Fredericksburg, Texas. The Newsom family shares similar values, work ethic, integrity and the passion required to build something great. The Newsom and Jenschke families take pride in building Jenschke Cellars. The wines are 100% Texas High Plains and celebrate the commitment to sustainable agriculture and family farming. It is very important to both families to honor their history and their legacy.
